Service Description

This camp is for students who have completed at least one of our Sew Camps. Students will learn the basics of quilt piecing, construction, and terminology, and will complete a lap-sized quilt from provided kits. The kit includes fabric for piecing the front, backing fabric, batting, and thread. There are three quilt level progressions. The beginning quilt project is a tied lap quilt with simple quilt piecing. Future attendance at camp progresses students to more complex block piecing skills. Student should bring: sewing machine in good working order with the manual (if available) and extra bobbins, basic sewing supplies, 2 scissors (1 large for cutting fabric and 1 small for snipping threads), several spools of neutral colored thread, extra sewing machine needles, and a pin cushion with straight pins. Bring a flannel-backed plastic tablecloth to use as a design wall. (The tablecloth will be altered in class.) Student should bring a lunch. A small snack will be provided. We have a limited number of machines available to borrow. Families with more than one student in the camps will be given priority. Please request a machine by making a note on your registration form. There will be a Show & Share on the last day of each camp. Friends and family are welcome to attend to see what the students have been working on all week. Light refreshments will be provided.
