Service Description
This camp is designed to introduce the beginning sewist with the basics of hand and machine sewing using a sewing machine and basic tools. Students will work on a skills checklist and provided kit projects. To help them on their sewing journey, each student will receive a basic sewing kit which includes scissors, seam ripper, pin cushion, pins, seam gauge and tape measure. All projects will be completed from provided pre-cut kits. Students will sew 5 core projects with each project teaching and adding new skills. Projects include a 9-patch pillow, tote bag, drawstring bag, pencil roll, and a cross body bag with zipper. Once the core projects are completed, students may choose a variety of other project kits to sew. Student should bring: Water bottle, sewing machine in good working order with the manual (if available) and extra bobbins. Don't forget the power cord and foot pedal. A small snack will be provided. We have a limited number of machines available to borrow. Families with more than one student in the camps will be given priority. Please request a machine by making a note on your registration form. There will be a Show & Share on the last day of each camp. Friends and family are welcome to attend to see what the students have been working on all week. Light refreshments will be provided.
